Why we use Dry Boiling Point (Extreme)
Equilibrium Reflux Boiling Point (ERBP) dry is "when you get the material in a reflux state where the hot brake fluid hits the top of a cup, drips down back into the jar and you record the temperature when it is in “reflux” in a consistent fashion." Our Torque RT700® has been tested to meet and exceed this DOT4 and FMVSS116 standard.
Boiling point (Extreme) values on the other hand is if you were to hit it with heat for so long that it turns into another form(whether it is black goo, whether it evaporates, combusts, etc.) and you record “a temperature” to get there at one time.
Extreme Dry Boiling Point is NOT the same as ERBP dry! ERBP dry will always be lower than the Extreme Dry Boiling Point. We do not use the ERBP dry because it is the minimum standard requirement for the brake fluid to be road legal. We use the Extreme value because it is a temperature that can be reached but with a limit where we recommend not surpassing.
